Our First Employee
It’s pretty crazy for me to think that we have our first employee. We’ve been a 4 person company for while now and our growth has reached the point where a little help around the warehouse would make a big difference and it certainly has.
Hiring has been a big issue in recent meetings and we’ve taken the approach of starting with a part timer. We weighed all the pros and cons with all the other hiring options and selecting the part timer route gave us owners the most flexibility to keep our current work lifestyle without much change. At the same time we’ve become so much more efficient throughout the past year, a part timer is the right fit. Plus deciding on a part timer keeps things much, much more simpler from the legal and corporate stand point.
Number 5 has arrived at Pure Adapt, Inc. and he has made a big difference. I welcome John to the Pure Adapt team. It’s only been 2 weeks since John has been here and he’s already made a world of difference for all of us. So far everything has worked out great. He’s a hard worker and quick learner and that’s all we can ask for at the moment because he has relieved pressure from all of us. Really it’s only been 2 weeks and knowing that I won’t have to do hours of warehouse work is a huge relief.
Wow our first employee! I’m still a little shocked when I take a step back and look at everything we’ve done in the past few years including our very own warehouse space and now an employee.

Record Sales Day
It’s always monumental when you have the biggest day ever in sales and yesterday was the biggest by far. We ran a huge 25% off sale at DetailedImage.com and it was successful beyond what I thought it would be.
Unfortunately we had some site problems when Adam was away but we were able to handle the situation and figure out what the problem was without anything catastrophic happening.
I was in contact with our server company all day and I have to compliment LiquidWeb for the fantastic service they provided. LiquidWeb’s support was first class and I couldn’t ask for anything more. They monitored the issue throughout the day and figured out what was causing the problem.
It’s freaking awesome to see all the work we’ve put in is paying off. This is an exciting time as we enter this growth phase and we’re only going to getting better from here, this is just the beginning.

It was pretty cool to see Pure Adapt listed on the Plum Card site back in July 2008, but now we’re back on there for something else. There was a quote pulled from Adam’s blog that is now in rotation on the the Plum Card website, check it out:
I was like “No Way!” when Greg informed me that AMEX left a message about featuring Pure Adapt in some way. Well it’s true and thanks to Adam’s blog, the quote “One of our best financial decisions we’ve made” is in rotation on the Plum Card site. That quote is very true, the Plum Card has done a lot for us.
The Plum Card has been vital to the growth of Pure Adapt and it truly is the perfect card for small businesses.
Wow looking back at it this is the third time I’ve posted about the Plum Card.

Creative Promotions
One awesome thing, among many others, of being part of a 4 person company of owners is that we get to come up with some very cool promotions and really get creative. On a regular basis my partners and I get together to brainstorm and plan out our upcoming promotions. For the month of April we came up with a cool and unique Easter egg promotion for Detailed Image that just started today.
From today through April 14, 2009 every order at DetailedImage.com over $75 will receive a random Easter egg with a gift certificate inside. Gift certificate values in the eggs will be either $10, $25, or $100. In this promotion we’re providing value for ordering with us and a little excitement. Take in the excitement of opening an Easter egg for a chance to get a free $100 gift certificate.
That’s just one of the creative promotions that we’ve ran so far at Detailed Image. In the past we’ve also done color sales based on the holiday like our black and orange sale for Halloween and a numbers play like our 2009 $20.09 credit promotion.
I love the fact that we can get creative here at Pure Adapt. I think we have built the company in a way that we are flexible enough try new things out and change on a dime as need be. As we continue to grow I look forward to working on bringing more creative promotions to our customers because we can and it’s fun as hell.

Adam is on vacation this week and it’s my pleasure to guest post for him this week. I wrote a post about the online holiday shopping season and here’s an excerpt from the post.
“For us at Pure Adapt the 2008 holiday shopping season was a solid one and we finished the year strong despite the abysmal economy. We were prepared this year with a full fledged marketing plan for the 2008 holiday season and it paid off.”
