Breathtaking Crystals of Naica Mine

Filed in: General & Mindless Chatter, Nature, Photos

These images from Discovery.com of the Naica Mine crystals are so amazing I had to post about it. The images of these giant crystals are unreal and the magnitude of them almost gives you a feeling of insignificance.

Nestling up to a cauldron of pressurized, molten rock is almost never a good idea. But in Mexico’s Naica mine, the payoff is worth the risk.

About 900 feet below the surface, there is a chamber filled with gypsum. It’s the same stuff that goes in the drywall in your house, only in Naica it spent half a million years parboiling in a chamber filled with magma-heated water.

Suddenly miners showed up and started pumping the mineral-rich broth out to get at valuable silver and lead deposits nearby. The result is a cavern filled with crystals 36 feet long and weighing in at up to 55 tons, easily the largest in the world…

SEMA Show 2009

In less than 2 weeks my partner George and I will be heading to Las Vegas for SEMA Show 2009. The SEMA Show is the premiere automotive specialty products show in the world. I’ve always wanted to go to SEMA but didn’t think there be any opportunity because it’s a trade show. Anyways the opportunity has arise since I am part of Detailed Image now and I can’t wait to go.

Check it out, I have my very own badge.

SEMA Badge

We will be buyers at the show and have the opportunity to see all the up and coming new automotive products. Hot cars and new technology, that’s some gooooood stuff!

Not only do I get to go to one of the world’s premiere car shows, I also get to go to Sin City and escape the chilling Northeast for a few days. It should be some good times and a great new experience. I will definitely be posting an update when I return, so stay tuned.

The Lonely Island

The Lonely Island Incredibad

Some explicit content if you like that.  If you don’t know who The Lonely Island is, they are the artists behind Dick in a Box and Jizz In My Pants.  They recently dropped their debut album “Incredibad” and it’s worth a listen to if you like those songs or comedic music.

When I first discovered Jizz In My Pants I couldn’t stop watching the video. The facial expressions in the video are priceless with lyrics that got me rolling.

This album features some pretty big artist like Jack Black, E-40, T-Pain, Justin Timberlake and others.

For your viewing pleasure I’ve got some videos below for you. The Lonely Island is entertaining enough and funny. I have their album in my Rhapsody and Jizz in My Pants is a must listen. You can also check out their site for comedy sketches and more at thelonelyisland.com. Let me know what you think.

Complaint-Box.com

Complaint Box

A little while back I started a site where you can file complaints anonymously about pretty much anything you wanted. I was about to blog a complaint about something then I thought it’d be the perfect time to write a little something about Complaint-Box.com.

Complaint-Box.com is easy and anonymous for you to complain about whatever you desire.  Also rate the complaints that people have filed.  That’s it, just a little fun project I did.

Check out my little post complaining about how much Pigeons Suck.  Also check out complaints like Cubicle Air Pollution, I’m not a gypsy…, My fat assed brides maid, No refunds on tickets, and others.

Got something you want to complain about or just vent, go check out Complaint-Box.com, it’s OK to complain there.

My Tribute from One Michael to Another

Filed in: General & Mindless Chatter

Michael Jackson 2009

Michael Jackson that is and I just want to say a few words.

On July 25, 2009 an icon so big has passed away that we probably won’t see another of the likes of this every again. Hands down the most iconic person that ever lived.  There is no match when it comes to worldwide fame.  Even after death he controls the airways worldwide and this story will be around for a while.

The King of Pop changed the world in so many ways with his music, dance, humanitarian efforts and so much more. His global reach is almost unfathomable and his influences will continue to live on through many musicians and dancers.

Upon news of his possible death in the age Internet, MJ crippled internet giants Twitter and Facebook.  Some even say the Michael literally slowed down the Internet (not really).

Even through tough personal tribulations in the last decade or so, he was beloved by so many around the world. I can remember the how cool I thought the Beat It and Thriller videos were back in the day and they still rock.

I’ve been privileged enough to have witnessed the era of an icon that was larger than life.  May the King of Pop rest in peace.

CrunchPad

CrunchPad

The new prototype of the CrunchPad from TechCrunch is out.  Today was the first time I read about this web tablet and it’s almost exactly what I’m looking for.  I’ve been waiting for an internet tablet device similar to the iPod Touch but bigger and this may be the answer to that, but the rumors of a Apple netbook is still very intriquing to me.

Specifically made for the internet it just runs a browser with associated apps.  All I want is to be able to do is check email, use Google Reader, watch YouTube and Hulu and listen to Rhapsody in portable device as shift my focus to having everything available on the internet.   The CrunchPad could be the device I’m looking for.

Price seems to be reasonable starting at $300, I can’t wait to hear more about the CrunchPad.
