My Monthly Charity February 2012

Filed in: Charity,My Monthly Charity

The organization that I’ve selected for this month is the Sister Maureen Joyce Center of Albany, which Pure Adapt will be volunteering to help move the soup kitchen in the old St. Patrick’s School to the it’s new location at the former St. George’s Church.

The new center is named after Sister Maureen Joyce who was a former executive director of diocesan Catholic Charities, who passed away last year.

“She was so dedicated to the poor and the people in need,” said Rev. John Bradley, the program coordinator and pastor at Blessed Sacrament parish, which will continue to run its food pantry at the uptown Central Avenue parish. – via Times Union

The new Joyce Center location will undergo a $400k renovation before it becomes the new location for the soup kitchen along with other services including clothing thrift shop, medical screening, legal advice and more.

Today the Pure Adapt team will be volunteering some time to assist in the move of the soup kitchen as part of our goal this year to give more back to the community and more.

For more information on how you help the Center City Soup Kitchen, call Blessed Sacrament Church at 482-3375 or email blessedsacalbany@aol.com.
